President Trump endorses Senate President Ty Masterson for Kansas governor

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – President Donald Trump is endorsing Kansas Senate President Ty Masterson for governor, giving Masterson an early boost as the 2026 race starts to take shape.

Trump announced the endorsement on Truth Social, calling Masterson “a fantastic candidate” and saying he has his “complete and total endorsement” to be Kansas’ next governor.

In the post, Trump pointed to Masterson’s background as a small business owner and his leadership in the Kansas Senate. He said Masterson would focus on cutting taxes and regulations, promoting agriculture, growing the economy and boosting U.S. manufacturing and energy production. Trump also said Masterson would prioritize border security, public safety, election security and Second Amendment rights.

“Ty Masterson has my Complete and Total Endorsement to be the next Governor of Kansas — HE WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!” Trump wrote.

Masterson, a Republican from Andover, said he was “deeply honored” by the endorsement and tied his message to Trump’s major policy priorities.

Trump also mentioned U.S. Sen. Roger Marshall in the post and said other “America First” Republicans in Kansas support Masterson.

Masterson has served in the Kansas Senate since 2009 and currently leads the chamber as Senate president. The Kansas governor’s race will be decided in the 2026 election.
