I would add two points to Julian E.J. Sorapuru’s May 31 front-page article, “Trump’s tastes take hold in a remade capital.”
First, Donald Trump has no taste.
Second, whoever runs atop the Democratic ticket for president in 2028 must pledge to restore D.C. to pre-Trump, classic standards. That includes bulldozing arches; replanting the White House Rose Garden and getting rid of the mall food court aesthetic; restoring the beautiful West Wing Colonnade; stripping the Oval Office of cheap, dictator-wannabe gold decor; and, for the love of God, getting rid of the horrid blue paint in the Reflecting Pool. Whoever pledges all of that will surely win.
