President Trump’s overall job approval rating is holding steady. Thirty-seven percent approve of the way he is handling his job, unchanged from the AP-NORC poll conducted in May and similar to the 36% who approved in early February, before the war in Iran began. The public continues to disapprove of his handling of Iran, with 34% approving, also unchanged from May. The poll was conducted as Trump suggested a deal with Iran had been reached but before it was signed.
Views of the how the president is dealing with Iran and other issues remain partisan. A substantial majority of Democrats and independents disapprove of how Trump is handling Iran, immigration, Israel, and the economy, while a large majority of Republicans express approval.

Views of the U.S. military action against Iran are also strongly partisan. While 82% of Democrats and 56% of independents think the action has gone too far, 42% of Republicans say it has been about right, and 37% feel it hasn’t gone far enough.
