LOS ANGELES (KABC) — The Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights says the Trump administration is intent on destroying the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.
The program, put in place under former President Barack Obama 14 years ago, protects hundreds of thousands of people brought to the U.S. as children, allowing them to live and work in the country.
CHIRLA says the Trump administration is using delay tactics, arrests, deportations and more to deny DACA recipients their rights.
“What we’re seeing is a systematic decision by the administration to hold back on renewing these work permits and these protections,” CHIRLA executive director Angelica Salas said Tuesday at a news conference with community leaders and advocates.
CHIRLA is offering clinics and workshops to help DACA recipients navigate the permit renewal process.
