Jackie, Big Bear's beloved bald eagle, has officially graduated from the ICU at Ojai Raptor Center to the regular hospital care unit! Oxygen masks off, she's now chilling in style, but still a very sick patient. Feathers crossed for her speedy recovery!
Though we call her Jackie, the rehab center sticks to 'Patient 26-519'—because apparently eagles need secret agent code names. She’s receiving top medical TLC, but no selfies allowed unless she’s either acting like a wild eagle or getting treatment!
Jackie was anemic and in need of a superhero blood transfusion. Enter Spirit, a fellow female eagle at CALM Zoo, who donated life-saving blood. Talk about eagle teamwork—no cape needed!
While Jackie’s on her hospital vacation, Shadow’s been holding down the fort—feeding their eaglets Sandy and Luna solo. The kids have fledged, though, so Shadow’s officially on a 'summer vacation.' No word if he’s binge-watching eagle Netflix.
A young subadult eagle tried crashing the nest party, but Shadow wasn’t having it—giving some serious defensive vibes. Experts say the subadult isn’t mate-material yet, so Shadow’s still the top eagle in town.
Jackie’s gone from being spoon-fed to eating solo, with her feisty attitude back in full force. Videos show her perkiness and vocal power—she’s basically the rockstar of the rehab center!
Vet teams are still hunting for the mystery illness, but when Jackie’s ready, she’ll be flying back to Big Bear and reuniting with Shadow. Until then, we’re cheering on patient 26-519—the bravest bald eagle ever!
